Sasol and Friends of the Environment Centre received an award from Minister of Environment HE Ahmed Amer Mohamed Al Humaidi for their contribution to the preservation of Qatar’s environmental resources by developing the one-of-its-kind smartphone app, Qatar e-Nature.
Jack Saba, General Manager, Public Affairs, received the award on behalf of Sasol Qatar during a seminar at Sharq Village & Spa in Doha.
The seminar addressed issues of maintaining plant biodiversity and the importance of setting environmental priorities for joint action and cooperation in line with Qatar National Vision 2030 and National Development Strategy.
Saba led a session on Sasol’s activities to promote environmental and educational awareness through the use of app by students attending Independent and private schools. “This year, thanks to support from Supreme Education Council (SEC), we reached all schools in Qatar and had more than 15,000 participants in the annual Qatar e-Nature school contest.
“We hope we can continue to inspire youth to learn more about nature in Qatar,” said Dr Saif Al Hajari, Chairman, Friends of the Environment Centre.
